Drummond Ranch
Whether your dog is a city dog or a working dog, sheep herding could be the sport for you! That is because some dogs are meant to herd sheep, especially herding breeds.Without that outlet they can often become frustrated and difficult companions.
Before beginning training, the dog’s aptitude for moving livestock is assessed. The trainer guides the dog in an arena with a small flock of sheep in order to gauge the dog’s level of willingness to work, and help bring out their herding instinct.
Once a dog “turns on” and begins herding the trainer will assess the dog’s individual herding style and determine the proper custom training program for each dog. The owner will receive a complete written report and explanation of the instinct test.
The herding instinct evaluation is educational, and both mentally and physically a stimulating experience for the dog and owner team.
